Thailand's new King Maha Vajiralongkorn has led a ceremony to mark the birthday of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Crowds gathered to see the new king presiding over the annual event, which took place at the royal palace in Bangkok on Monday. The Buddhist ceremony was broadcast across the nation.
The new King took the throne on December 1st. His father, King Bhumibol, died in October after reigning for 7 decades.
A 43-year-old visitor said he believes nothing will change as people continue to revere the royal family.
Meanwhile, the military-led interim government has tightened control on free speech by shutting down websites critical of the royal family.
